6. Kiss Of Death / People Don’t Pray - Rehearsal Room, Dalmarnock, 2008
MR GREGOR BARCLAY
Guitar, vocals, 2000-
Dalmarnock was very cold. We had a fiddly little heater and a kettle we didn’t use, as there wasn’t any water. On top of that, it was a bitch to get to on a Sunday morning. Dalmarnock was basically a shithole, but it was our shithole.
'Kiss of Death' we never played live. It had a bit of a klezmer vibe going on, which I liked. 'People Don’t Pray' we played when we were a three piece. I was listening to a lot of Godspeed, and came up with the riff on top of one of their tunes. I thought we should have a Godspeedy one. In 2002, everyone wanted a Godspeedy one. The title stems from a flirtation with anti-religious sentiment; which reached its nadir/zenith (you decide) on our now-forgotten Christmas song, 'Smother Your Boy Child, Mary'.
