If you are reading this, you’re either a superfan or have time to kill.
I have only had the privilege of playing with How to Swim for a little over a year, but in this time have met and played with some of the finest musicians [and nicest people] Glasgow has to offer.
Of all the songs in the extensive catalogue, Bacterium, a relatively new addition to the set, has quickly become one of my personal favourites.
It allows the group to express many of its capabilities in just over three and a half minutes. From tight crisp stop-starts and high tempo playing to subtler moments, where almost all of the music has disappeared from the stage.
I find it reassuring that a band with this longevity can still make me feel excited by the arrival of a new song, and occasionally, an idea.
Thank you for taking the time to listen. I am proud to have been a small part of the continuing story.
